Pastries….. my favorite thing to have with coffee! Before Weight Watchers I used to live for giant muffins, gooey danishes, and doughy bagels. While I still enjoy those things from time to time they certainly aren’t the most point friendly options. I was eyeballing a pastry display at a coffee shop the other day and saw a giant croissant staring at me – my mind started wandering to crescent rolls and I remembered that they really aren’t all that high in points. That’s how this recipe was born! I had to make these babies immediately and they turned out oh so good! Only 3 Blue WW SmartPoints/4 Green WW SmartPoints each!
These are simple to make and pair wonderfully with a cup of coffee! I served mine with eggs and sausage links for a complete Sunday breakfast. They’re also great for an afternoon snack or dessert alongside a warm cup of tea.
You start out with a tube of Pillsbury Reduced Fat Crescent Rolls and spread each one with a little bit of my Crockpot Apple Butter. Roll them up, brush with a little egg wash, and sprinkle on some cinnamon and sugar – that’s it! The cinnamon sugar mixture adds a little something special with each bite. They’re ready from the oven in about 15 minutes.
We’ll be making these often in our house this season since we’re always stocked on apple butter. Feel free to substitute the traditional crescent rolls in place of the reduced fat version – those will come to 4 blue smart points each which is still a points bargain!
The only thing I did wrong?! I sent all the leftovers to work with Tony! He threw some in the toaster oven to reheat them and said everyone was wondering what the amazing smell was! #jealous
Makes 8 Apple Butter Crescent Rolls at 3 Blue WW SmartPoints/4 Green WW SmartPoints each. Enjoy! *You can find the apple butter recipe by clicking here.*
- 1 can Pillsbury Reduced Fat Crescent Rolls*
- 8 tbsp apple butter (my zero point recipe is linked above)
- 1 egg white, lightly beaten
- 1 tsp granulated sugar or brown sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Open crescent rolls and carefully separate dough into 8 triangles.
- Spread 1 tbsp apple butter onto each triangle.
- Roll up triangles as usual, starting at the wide end.
- Transfer to an ungreased, non-stick cookie sheet.
- Brush the top of each roll with egg whites.
- Mix together the sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle mixture over the top of each roll.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until dough is golden brown. *The inside has extra moisture from the apple butter so it takes a few minutes longer to cook than traditional rolls*
- Enjoy - serve with extra apple butter, if desired!
