I’m not really sure I can adequately describe just how stinkin’ good these biscuits are. Where to start?! These biscuits are everything you love about breakfast rolled into a single bite! Think of a classic biscuit but waaaay, way better. Each biscuit is full of warm cinnamon flavor and loaded with savory bits of sausage. Sometimes it’s nice to make a little something special on the weekends and these babies are perfect! Each one is 5 WW SmartPoints on both the Blue and Green plans. Pair one with some zero point sides for a full breakfast – try them with eggs, fruit, or topped with some of my delicious Crock Pot Apple Butter (0 points)!
If you’ve never made homemade biscuits you might be surprised how simple they are. I’d almost be willing to bet you have all the ingredients on hand right now! A few pantry staples plus some butter and milk – that’s it! They come together super fast and only take about 15 minutes to bake.
This recipe starts with a standard biscuit dough and then I added in some cinnamon and crumbled turkey sausage. I use turkey sausage crumbles which are available at most grocery stores (they’re precooked and located with the refrigerated breakfast meats). If you can’t locate these you can grab some frozen chicken or turkey sausage links – both Applegate and Jones Dairy Farm make delicious ones! Let them thaw, chop them up, and you’ll be good to go. *Note: These brands may alter the points value of the recipe so you’ll want to adjust for that by recalculating in the recipe builder)*
After your dough is mixed up you’ll knead it just enough until it comes together – over kneading can make your biscuits flat and tough. I simply roll mine out on a cookie sheet until I have a large rectangle and then I use a pizza cutter and cut it into 12 squares. This is how my grandma made her biscuits so that’s exactly how I do it! Much easier than fussing with cutting round biscuits and dealing with extra dough.
After 15-18 minutes in the oven these heavenly babies are ready to eat! Be prepared for your family to on standby – the smell of cinnamon and dough cooking together is enough to wake up the entire house. These would be great to make for brunch or next time you have guests over. Save leftovers to enjoy for quick breakfasts during the week. Just add a cooked egg and a big spoonful of apple butter for an amazing sweet and savory breakfast sandwich! So. Much. Yum.
Makes 12 biscuits at 5 WW SmartPoints on both the Blue and Green plans. Enjoy!
- 2 c all purpose flour + ¼ c for dusting
- 2 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 5 tbsp butter
- 1 c skim milk
- *1 c turkey sausage crumbles- optional: reserve a few crumbles to put on top of the dough
- Preheat oven to 425F.
- In a large bowl sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
- Using a pastry blender or large fork cut the butter into the flour mixture until the butter resembles small crumbles.
- Stir the sausage crumbles into the mixture so that they become coated with flour.
- Add milk and gently stir until dough is formed.
- Flour a work surface and turn the dough out. Gently knead the dough a few times, folding the dough over onto itself, just until everything has come together enough to roll out. Add more flour as needed to prevent sticking.
- Lightly flour a cookie sheet and roll the dough out into a large rectangle until it is ½ inch thick.
- Cut dough into 12 squares using a pizza cutter. Press reserved sausage crumbles onto the top of your dough and sprinkle with a little extra cinnamon.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until dough is cooked and biscuits are golden brown. Enjoy!
*If you can't find turkey sausage crumbles you can substitute another brand of turkey or chicken sausage links (Applegate and Jones Dairy Farm are good options). Simply thaw and dice the links so that you have about 1 cup. Other brands may alter the points value so be sure to adjust and recalculate for that.

You may want to consider adding pictures of what each step looks like. I added milk and mixed together and the dough Does not seem dry enough for biscuits but I have no way to know if it’s right or not!
Can’t wait to try them even though I made have messed them up along the way!

Will do that next time I make them! Hope they turned out =)
